So, how was 2025?

Updated: Dec 8

With 2025 nearing an end, I thought I'd get you caught up on how it all went down. Plus, it was a good way to kick off this blog that I've been told would help with SEO. Two birds, one stone.

Breakthrough officially launched on January 30th. After 5 years of hard work and even harder procrastination, the third book in the Suburban High series was out. But more work had to be done, namely promoting it. And that's what I spent a good part of 2025 doing.

I was contacted by a marketing agency that works with authors to promote their books. It's been a costly endeavor that's eaten into my savings, but they've been able to get my book out in places I wouldn't had been able to myself.

First, there was the 35th Annual Hong Kong Book Fair. Nearly a million readers from all all over the world to check out books and mines was one of them.

The agency will also be representing Breakthrough at the Taipei International Book Exhibition in February of 2026.

The next step in promoting the book was one I never thought possible. A billboard in Times Square! I've always wanted to visit New York City.

Here's what was on display for thousands of people to see:

While all of this was happening, I was being put into contact with agents representing film companies that have expressed interest in adapting the books for TV / Film. I was asked to send over a sample script of two pages.

Thanks to two semesters of screenwriting class, I was able to write a script that they were impressed with. No major news about any adaptation yet, but it's still a possibility.

In the past few weeks, my books have been placed on several online bookstores internationally. Suburban High books are now available in United Kingdom, France, Sweden, The Netherlands, Denmark, Australia, India, and Taiwan. Meanwhile, back at home, I was invited to participate in a local author fair in Phoenix.

There I am.

I sold some books and made some connections. One of which has invited me to participate in the 2nd Annual Celebration of Black Children's Book Week in Feb-March.

Yes, 2025 was pretty busy as far as the books go. I would like to do more to promote them, but I should probably be putting more time into writing the fourth one.

I don't need sleep any way.
